The End of The World?

The Coronavirus Outbreak came to light on December 31 from Wuhan, China to 202 other countries. The virus has infected thousands of people all over the world.

According to WHO, Coronavirus is a family of viruses that cause illness ranging from common cold to severe diseases such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).

From the last 3 weeks, the number of Coronavirus cases had increased drastically inside China and even outside China. The coronavirus outbreak has been labelled a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 11th March, 2020. Coronavirus being a pandemic, spreads with the blink of an eye. One time we hear a news of a new case identified while the other news being a death due to coronavirus.

SYMPTOMS OF COVID’19
The symptoms of Covid’19 is similar to those of common flu.
1) Causes fever, cough and vomiting
2) Can be mild, severe and even fatal in rare cases
3) Result in Pnuemonia

Other symptoms include:
1) shortness of breath
2) aches and pains
3) sore throat and very few people will report diarrhoea, nausea or a runny nose.

The symptoms of Covid’19 range from one to 14 days. Most infected people show symptoms within 5 to 6 days. People suffering from any respiratory disease or people attained the age of 60 has the higher risk of being diagnosed with Covid’19.

PREVENTION OF COVID’19.

1) Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.
2) Maintain at least 1 metre distance between you and people coughing or sneezing.
3) Avoid touching your face.
4) Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
5) Stay home if you feel unwell.
6) Refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.
7) Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.

STEPS TAKEN BY DIFFERENT NATIONS TO STOP IT FROM SPREADING

1) Different nations have take different steps to stop the virus from spreading:
2) Closure of schools, colleges and private institutions.
3) Ban on gatherings, functions, and social gatherings.
4) Closure of restaurants, bars, sports clubs
5) Domestic and international airlines have cancelled flights.
6) Any person travelling from abroad to his/her nation has to be kept in isolation for at least 14 days.
